New from TEA
AP Institutes include material appropriate for the 12 hours of GT training related to curriculum and instruction (see code), and the training satisfies the 6-hour GT update required for Texas teachers, subject to individual school districts decisions.
The registration fee for the AP Institutes for 2024 is $595. The fee includes all materials used throughout the week, breakfast pastries, refreshments during breaks, and a light lunch each of the four days. The institutes will start promptly at 8:00 A.M. each morning and end at 4:30 P.M. each of the four days.
Pre-Registration for the AP institutes is required, and may be accomplished online. Pre-Registration deadline is June 10 in order to receive a hard copy of College Board materials. Registrations after June 10 will receive an electronic copy.
Housing
Housing for the workshops is offered in Hullabaloo Dorm for $340 for four nights, Sunday through Wednesday night. The small 2-bedroom is the only floor plan available. Roomates share a living area but have their own bedrooms that lock separately. A refrigerator and microwave are included. You may bring a TV or use one of the media rooms. You will need to bring you own linens (XL twin or double sheets, pillowcase, towel & washcloth). Parking at the dorm is included. Blocker Building, where the institutes are held, is close enough to walk, but you may park in the Northside Garage for an extra fee (see Parking Information below). If you indicate in your registration that you desire on-campus housing, reservations will be made for you for 4 nights, Sunday through Wednesday nights. If you are traveling from a long distance and need to stay through Thursday night, you need to let us know when you register (email contact below). Pastries, coffee, and juice are available each morning in Blocker.
Off-Campus Housing is available at several motels/hotels located near the campus.
- Vineyard Court Executive Suites (888) 846-2678 is one block south and one block east of the main campus.
- Hampton Inn (800) 426-7866 is two blocks north of campus on the west side of Texas Avenue.
- LaQuinta Inn (800) 531-5900 is one block south of TAMU.
